Whether you are looking for a few hours of tranquil paddling, or a full-day expedition and overnight experience, you'll find it at Janes Island State Park. This park is surrounded by Chesapeake Bay waters and features rental cabins, pavilions, campsites and a conference center. More than 30 miles of water trails dissect a 2,900 acre Chesapeake Bay salt marsh island, a natural paradise with few signs of civilization. Limitless vistas over shallow bays, marshes and low vegetation impart a sense of space and solitude. Most of the waterways are protected from wind and current, providing ideal conditions for the novice as well as the experienced paddler. Janes Island offers a tranquil paradise. Anglers enjoy easy access to the Bay and fish for striped bass, spot, croaker, flounder and bluefish. A family favorite at Janes Island is crabbing-- where you quickly learn why Maryland is for Crabs!! |

ALCOHOL POLICY: The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all state park areas with the exception of interior areas of full-service cabins and motorhomes. Permits may be issued upon request by the Park Manager for special events operating under a use agreement. Alcohol permits will only be issued through a reservation for a designated shelter, or other approved facility. A $35 fee will be charged for each alcohol permit and must be obtained 1-day out prior to arrival. Permits may be revoked for cause by Park Manager, their designee or a Natural Resources Police Officer. Internet shelter reservations requiring an alcohol permit will need to contact the Call Center at 1-888-432-2267, Mon-Fri, 8 am - 8 pm to make your reservation.
